A Pouf and a Car Seat

I've had a lot of projects that I've wanted to do lately, and some that I have to do.

This pouf (which I love) was a "have-to-do" -----

Adorable, isn't it?? I LOVE it!! If it didn't take 20+ hours to assemble, I would make myself one...maybe.

On my list of "want-to-do" projects, was the car seat. SUPER easy (only took like 3 hours - maybe) and SO adorable!!! I didn't replace the edge color, but I did replace the patterned fabric and the binding around the edge. A quick, simple, and adorable update! So can't wait to put a chubby baby in it!

Before: It wasn't bad...just boyish and dirty - I still like it, just wanted something a little more girly

After: I LOVE it SO much!!! Love the bright clean colors!!

After: Complete with some nice semi-homemade binding

After: Closer view of the pattern. I love it so much!

It's been, and will be, a crazy couple of weeks. But hopefully I'll still get to work on projects!!!

Also, I should probably pack my house.
Ah.

Bubbles

Sometimes, the most important thing you can do in a day, is to NOT get dressed, NOT to work around the house and to play with bubbles.

So when Dad came home from work, that's what we did.

It was lovely.

Lime Green Romper

This little gem... the romper - not the baby (although that baby is adorable) ... is now the newest member of my baby girls closet!! YAY!!!!!! I'm so excited about it I can't even tell you. I found this promotion for it on line through Mommy's Little Sunshine (click on image below to go to their website)

If you pick out a Petit Romper (any color) and put in the promotional code (Summer12) it's FREE!!! -- I think it only goes through July 7th but I'm not sure -- (plus shipping - which is only like $8 or $9 or something) But hey!!! Saved me a bunch of money and now I don't have to make one myself (ruffle fabric is so bloody expensive anyways it would have cost me more than $8 or $9 to make it anyways)

SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!! Won't my baby be adorable?? Yes. She will be. Think of all the cute pictures I can get in this outfit.

Baby Bedding Dilemma

Well, it's really not a dilemma ... Just a matter of monies.

I love to make things and I thought I wanted to make this baby girls bedding for the crib - but I honestly don't know when I'm going to get the time to do it.  So I was searching for bedding online and I found this adorable site that has matching crib and toddler bedding ( Max is going into a toddler bed and they're sharing a room ) !!

How adorable is that??? (if you like lime green like I do - it's pretty adorable!) Here's what I think... I could buy that main things in matching colors but then do everything else different..so they match, but it's different colors? Does that make sense? I think I'm rambling.

Example - Green bumper pads and crib skirt on the crib - but with a pink or white crib sheet...

Exmple 2 - Green toddler comforter and pillowcase but turquoise or white sheets...

Make sense??

Now, here's my dilemma.... even if I ONLY bought the bumper pads and the crib skirt and the toddler comforter and the pillowcase - it would cost me....get ready.... $300.00!!!!! WHAT???!!!!!

Argh. Problem is now I like the idea of the bedding semi matching, and I can't afford $300.00 so I'm going to have to make it I think.

Project #8721 added to the list.

Dang it all.

Unless someone wants to give me $300.00....then you'd be my best friend. Literally.

Suggestions Welcome!!

Kyle and I found an apartment in Chicago yesterday, filled out the application, and paid some of the deposit. Yay!! Can't tell you how relieved that makes me, that's one less thing that I have to worry about doing by myself when I get out there. Now I can just focus on....um....all the other things I have to do before I get out there.

The complex is call Brook Hill Apartments. I've been in contact with a few people that are living out there now and they all love it. Plus is 1.3miles away from Kyle's campus, and there are about 6 or 7 other LDS couples that live there that also attend the Dental School. Perks all the way around...

I was stressing (and still might be a little bit) about not physically seeing it before we made a decision, but I figured I can live anywhere for a year. Plus, there are more perks to it than negatives. Although I really do feel like I'm making some good compromises. Like only getting a 2 bedroom instead of a 3 bedroom, and not seeing it before hand. But oh well, you've got to do what you have to do. But now that we have the apartment, my dilemma is where to put my office?? In a 3 bedroom I'd have a whole separate room that I could work from home in. But I'm trying to figure out where to do it in this apartment.

I would LOVE some ideas and suggestions - I REALLY DON'T want my work space to be out in the open so everyone who comes over can see it. Unless I could somehow separate it from the rest of the room somehow (room dividers?? tacky??)

So I went ahead and put it where I thought it might work the best - but can anyone tell me if they've had issues with an office in their bedroom - both Kyle and I don't want it to feel cluttered. Also, my kitchen table can fit in the kitchen so I can convert the dining room space to an office if need be.

Suggestions??? Ideas??? I know lots of people have way better ideas than I do, so help me!!

layout of the apartment - roughly 1200 sq. ft.
what I came up with for an office so far - obviously I'm hoping to make an IKEA run when I get to Chicago

Nico and Kyra

My cousin Nico and his girlfriend Kyra came down from Spokane yesterday to spend some time with me before I move to Chicago in a couple of weeks. It was so nice to see them and it always is nice to get to do something extra fun. Good thing my brother-in-law Kent is so awesome! He gave Nico and Kyra helicopter rides and I didn't hear the end of it for the rest of the day!! Nico thought it was the coolest thing ever - especially since Kent let him fly it!

So thanks Nico for coming to see me, and thanks Kent for stealing my thunder!!! haha

oh geez...i look huge and swollen. i guess that happens at 30 weeks pregnant

Sick baby and a Schedule

Usually when I make a schedule, I don't follow it. But that's because I'm lazy and have project ADD. (it's true) - but this time... it's not totally my fault. Granted, I was a little behind, but come on, I was way to ambitious in my early scheduling days. But now - holy cow - I am behind. It's a good thing that I added catch up days when I did or I would seriously be hurting.
remember this??
So far, the only two things that have been done completely on time, are Heidi's curtains, and speaking in church. Yay me!!!

But like I said, not totally my fault - Maxy McSick Pants has been ill and husband has been gone on a river trip. So let me ask you, what do you get when you have a sick baby, a tight schedule, and an out of town husband??

You get nothing done.

At least I've accomplished that.

Isn't it wonderful to get presents??

When you're pregnant...

...you don't always feel pretty.

But today, I felt pretty.

It was nice.

Long Overdue

Holy crap. I've been TERRIBLE at updating, and let's face it - it's not going to be the last time I suck at this. Things have been crazy around here and it's just going to get more hectic... but here's some fun updating that I really should do...

Moving Update: I'm moving to Chicago in 5.5 weeks. Ah! I made a list of everything I needed to get done before I move and oh. my. goodness. I don't know how I'm going to be able to do it all.  Kyle agrees - he even dared me to get everything done that's on my list...so now I have to. Dang it all. I guess one helpful thing is that I got a calendar and mapped out basically every day from now until I move with what I need to do that day (for instance - blogging - NOT on today's schedule) I'm doing SO awesome.

Here's my calendar for June - just so you can get an accurate picture of what I'm talking about. As you can see, I've appropriately added "Catch Up" days. Which I'm sure, 4 will not be enough, but they will all be used. But hopefully, I can exhibit self control and just follow the calender...but probably not.

I've already bought my plane ticket out to Chicago... I leave July 18th. I'm jumping right into everything too.. I'm meeting with my realtor July 19th so start seeing houses. Hopefully we find something quickly so that Kyle and I can get in right away. Hopefully.

shopping score with my momma in Phoenix

Pregnancy Update: I'm 28.5 weeks. Woo hoo!! Exhaustion has set in. I think I hit a wall the second my 3rd trimester came around. I'm exhausted ALL THE TIME. Probably has something to do with having a 20 month old, but maybe not. He is pretty well behaved...most of the time. I've only gained 19 lbs. Which I'm pretty happy about.. it's much better than the 30 lbs I gained with Max at this point. Which is so funny to me because I threw up EVERY day with Max and haven't thrown up with this pregnancy for a couple months and I gained more when I threw up every day.   Bulimia would never work for me, obviously.

It's still a girl in there... or at least it better be. Or all the stuff I got when I was in Phoenix is going to be useless. But let me tell you, shopping for a baby girl is WAY more fun than boys!! I love my darling Max's clothes (and he has some good stuff let me tell you) but all the cute dresses and shirts and shoes for a girl ... ooo!! .... love it. Makes me smile just thinking about it.  If you'll notice - in the above picture - on the right hand side, there are 3 lime green dresses. Yes. I did buy every. single. size. they had in those dresses - 3,6,9,12,24. She'll never grow out of it!! Muah ha ha!!!! Don't judge (they were only $7.00 a piece on clearance - though how they ever lasted to clearance is beyond me).

Apart from the typical aches and pains associated with my pregnancies - I am seeing a chiropracter again. Bleh. I have a herniated disk and a swollen sciatic nerve in my back. Which is typical, the nerve - not the herniated disk. That would explain all the pain I'm having, but I'm getting it sorted out, so don't worry!!

Kyle Update:  He has chosen to defy me and apply to work for the Forest Service again this summer. He started this week and so far hasn't gone out on the river yet, but the first trip is next week. For those who don't know what I'm talking about... this is basically what Kyle does for his job. He gets to raft the river, talk to strangers, camp, and make rock signs on the beaches for me (adorable isn't it??) and he gets paid to do it all. Lucky dog. But at the end of the summer he's super tan and even more muscular, so it all works out in the end.

We're also waiting to hear back from the Navy about the scholarship that we applied to for dental school. Hopefully we hear back sooner than later... I'll have more on that later (unless we don't get it - then I'll never mention it again).

Max Update: He's 20 months old. How the time flies. Super tall, super scrawny and looks more and more like his dad everyday. I feel like every time that I look at him, the less he looks like me. His Hobson genes are definitely beating the crap out of his Ficklin genes at the moment. But not to worry, Ficklin's are scrappy, we'll work our way back in there somehow.
see??? adorable
He's learning all kinds of words now too.. like cow, truck, tractor, car, bubble, shoe, rambo... I can't think of any others at the moment. But what's more impressive are not the words, but the sounds that he makes. He is one AWESOME motorcycle noise maker. I kid you not. You would be impressed. He's better than any adult that lives around here and most of the kids. I can't find a video to upload right now, but I will and then you'll be impressed. And he does it constantly. Sure, you think that'd be cute, right? WRONG. It's cute in small doses, but he does it 24/7. Sun up to sun down. And EVERYTHING makes a motorcycle noise, it doesn't have to be a motorcycle. Ah...he's napping now. Serenity. But I know I'll miss it when he grows out of this phase...or maybe he never will. Oh dear.
notice the intense concentration and the drool - it's awesome
Bragging moment : Kyle and I are very proud to announce that Max folds his arms during the prayers. And not just for a little bit, like the whole prayer. He even kneels or sits down when we tell him we're about to pray. It's so adorable!!! And he waits to get up until he hears the magic word "Amen". We'd like to contribute it to our awesome parenting, but it's probably just because Max is naturally awesome.

Rambo Update: Rambo is Max's best friend - notice how Max is NOT Rambo's best friend. It's adorable, but now its verging on dangerous. And not dangerous for Max, dangerous for Rambo. Sometimes, we are seriously concerned for Rambo's well being. Max likes to "hug" (a.k.a. tackle and sit on top of) Rambo. He also likes to "kiss" (a.k.a. pull on the ears of) Rambo. It's a good thing Rambo is such a good dog or we might be concerned about Max's safety. Not to worry though, Rambo just gets up and walks away whenever Max comes around, which you'd think might work, but then Max just thinks they're playing tag or something so he chases Rambo and Rambo usually ends up in a headlock. I should get a picture of that.... I don't know what Rambo is going to do when there are two babies chasing him around. He may run away and never come back. I probably would.

Etsy Store Update:  Kyle and I have been SERIOUSLY blessed when it comes to my store. It's been unbelievable. We have been able to make a decent living on what I make there and it's really humbling. I've put my shop on "vacation" until probably the fall when everything slows down a bit. But judging from the fact that I've gotten like 6 inquiries for people still wanting to order (even though my store is on "vacation") I'm probably not going to get the break that I want. Seriously, how am I supposed to say no to the money??

I think that's mostly it for now.. I'm sure there are things that I'm missing, but I just can't think of it right now. All I can think about is how I REALLY need to go work on my Etsy orders that I still have out...and eat something. I'm hungry.
