$5.00 from Target or Walmart. Awesome. It's actually a pretty good price. Obviously. $5.00 for a lamp?? Who could beat that?? Only one problem. It's pretty UGLY.
Oh, it gets the job done, but why can't we get the job done in style??
Introducing, the EASIEST lamp update ever!!!!!
You need a $5.00 Lamp with an ugly plastic bowl for a shade, a new pretty lampshade and your hands.
EASY.
Take off your nasty, sorry excuse for a lampshade and replace with a pretty one! Couldn't be simpler.
I used this shade from IKEA - click on picture - (they basically have the cheapest lampshades ever!!)
Here's what it looks like from inside the lampshade...
Make sure you get a lampshade that has the metal parts that go down (that's not the technical way to say it but you can see what I mean from the above picture... I hope...)
If you want to be super fancy you can spray paint your lamp bases... I'm going to do that, just haven't decided what color yet... for now, they can be silver...
That's it! Super easy!! Easy way to make your $5 lamp look like $50!!
One more time:

AFTER:
It doesn't even look like the same lamp! Looks like it cost me WAY more than it did!! So pretty. So easy.
Your turn!!
Awesome! I did the exact same thing with one of mine just the other week! I let someone borrow my floor lamp for a dance and it got knocked over and the glass shade that was on it shattered. So I used a shade that I got from IKEA! Way cool!
ReplyDeleteGreat Idea!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had an IKEA here - you are lucky - and the lamps looks great along with your couch and rug
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately no IKEA here in NE (no way), but I found some pretty fantastic shades at the Goodwill and ReStore. I didn't realize you could makeover that horrible floor lamp of ours, thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm years late to this party... But I was scouring Pinterest for ideas in how to improve my ugly lamps and I found you. Thanks for the inspiration!
