The complex is call Brook Hill Apartments. I've been in contact with a few people that are living out there now and they all love it. Plus is 1.3miles away from Kyle's campus, and there are about 6 or 7 other LDS couples that live there that also attend the Dental School. Perks all the way around...
I was stressing (and still might be a little bit) about not physically seeing it before we made a decision, but I figured I can live anywhere for a year. Plus, there are more perks to it than negatives. Although I really do feel like I'm making some good compromises. Like only getting a 2 bedroom instead of a 3 bedroom, and not seeing it before hand. But oh well, you've got to do what you have to do. But now that we have the apartment, my dilemma is where to put my office?? In a 3 bedroom I'd have a whole separate room that I could work from home in. But I'm trying to figure out where to do it in this apartment.
I would LOVE some ideas and suggestions - I REALLY DON'T want my work space to be out in the open so everyone who comes over can see it. Unless I could somehow separate it from the rest of the room somehow (room dividers?? tacky??)
So I went ahead and put it where I thought it might work the best - but can anyone tell me if they've had issues with an office in their bedroom - both Kyle and I don't want it to feel cluttered. Also, my kitchen table can fit in the kitchen so I can convert the dining room space to an office if need be.
Suggestions??? Ideas??? I know lots of people have way better ideas than I do, so help me!!
layout of the apartment - roughly 1200 sq. ft. |
what I came up with for an office so far - obviously I'm hoping to make an IKEA run when I get to Chicago |
If it were me I would use the dining area. That way you can keep an eye on the kiddos while you work. I currently have our kitchen table up against the wall and a table cloth on it to hide all my craft stuff underneath. And I use it as a work space when I need to as well.
ReplyDeleteI'd use the dining space too. The kitchen looks like it needs your table to make extra "countertop" space anyway.
ReplyDeleteYou could be totally nuts like we were in our last place -- the living room WAS our bedroom. Granted, for us it was because of too many kids. But it really wasn't TOO terrible to set up camp each night and then quickly put all our bedding away in the morning before the kiddos woke up. Then your room could be the full-time office/workspace.
